All the boring stuff

Hey all! This week was a lot of the boring part of sound design, but still very important. And that is, drumroll please... troubleshooting and spreadsheets! Yup, the majority of this week was spent downloading all of the apps and software (There was a LOT, especially since I am streaming much of the progress), making sure it all worked, and organizing all the files I would need. Of course the essentials, Celeste the game, the FMOD file from Maddymakesgames, and the correct version of FMOD. After fiddling with my VPN a bit, I got the live link to work just fine from FMOD to Celeste, and even began importing a couple easy sounds such as the jump!

Oh boy that was the easy part though. Did you know its actually incredibly inconvenient to stream audio when your using an interface like I am? Well apparently it is. Since sound goes through there instead of your PC, OBS was unable to pick up any sound from Nuendo while I was working! So in comes VoiceMeeter Banana (odd name I know.) This is a software that virtually unpatches all of your software audio in your PC and lets you... well... re-patch it. Sounds easy enough, but you don't really know how many audio streams are on your PC until you manually re-patch all of them. To skip the boring trial and error, I got a full setup that allows me to stream Nuendo, FMOD, and Celeste all at the same time, all with separate volume controls. All aside from the V-tuber and interaction software running (streaming takes a lot of programs to do, huh...)

But with that all set aside, my last step for this week was to comb through every sound effect I would need to create, organize them by category, and put them into a nifty spreadsheet for me to keep track of my progress! I even did this live on stream to test all the audio setups, so if you really want you can go and watch a couple hours of google sheets gameplay over at Mr_Indecisive on youtube. And now the real fun begins, actual sound designing!
